Q?

How do I know you won’t steal my material?

A.

Fair question! Besides the fact that I've never stolen anything in my life, not even candy as a kid, it's actually in my worst interest to steal your material. It would obliterate my reputation and career as an author and editor. Also, if you look at my work, you'll see that I write in voice and style that's completely my own.

Q?

I have my own writing style. You won’t change that will you?

A.

Not at all. I know voice is what makes each author unique. Since I'm providing you with big picture feedback, this issue doesn't usually come up anyway.

Q?

What makes your manuscript critique different than others?

A.

I don't just point out issues, I provide multiple recommendations. I have a great deal of experience along with a knack for figuring out what makes books work, which I've proven by helping authors land big contracts and win awards. I read extremely quickly, so my turnaround time is faster. Because it's just me, I can offer better prices than editors that work for companies without sacrificing quality.

Q?

How come you don’t charge by the word?

A.

I cap my services: manuscripts cannot exceed 90,000 words and synopses cannot exceed one page, single-spaced. I've picked these limits for a reason: if manuscripts exceed 90,000 words, unless they are Sci-Fi (which I'm not currently editing), they aren't commercial-ready because agents and editors won't accept more from a debut author. Most agents and editors request a one-page synopsis, so it's in your best interest to write one that length.

Q?

What if I have questions after I receive my critique?

A.

As part of my service, you can choose between a one hour phone followup conversation or two followup emails to clarify anything. If you happen to live in the Atlanta area and you want to drive to Decatur, I'll happily meet you at a coffee shop after a manuscript critique.

Q?

How can I pay for my service?

A.

Currently, I take payment via Paypal.
